- I live in a townhouse in a large unit complex. Recently a nice couple have moved next door with their very young beagle. It is a beautiful dog but when the owners are away at work it starts 'howling' or 'baying' from 2.45pm till they come home about 5pm. It is kept in the backyard with its little kennel and toys. Since i am home and someone else lives here too, it gets very irritating day to day. I know these dogs require alot of attention and are great family pets, and the owners spoil and pamper it to the 'nth degree, is there a way to stop it from doing this, or do i have to put up with it? Your advice would be greatly appreciated.

- I have a 7 yr old female dacshund. She is house trained, but last week she had very loose bowel movements all over the living room carpet. For the next week her movements were very loose and has done it again several times on the carpet. I thought it was the odor making her go again so we confined her to the downstairs. She hadn't gone on the rug down there the whole time. Her stool is back to the normal consistancy but she has now gone on the downstairs rug. Otherwise, she deficates outside normally and eats and drinks normally.

Watch her closely when she is free in the house and at ANY sign of discomfort, run outside with her. Be very strict in your supervision of her for the next 2 to 3 weeks to re-establish her toileting habit. « less
- I have 1.5 year old femail dog, which weighs about 15 pounds. How long I could walk her? Is 8 miles every other day ok for her age and body weigh? She is very energetic, but I see her being very tired after those walks. Could those long walks possibly hurt her development? Or it's ok for the dog? I'm worried if I'm not overdoing it while exercising her. Thanks.

- I have just moved in with my boyfriend he has a 3yr old male husky and a 10yr old female husky. I have a 6 mnth old kitten who is use to living indoors. Should i get rid of my kitten as I am worried the dogs will kill him? Is it possible to keep my kitten? Should I make my kitten an indoors cat and occassionally let him out the back when the dogs are inside. Is it cruel for my kitten and risky to do that? Can my kitten live out the front and be inside when I am home? Will the kitten keep away from the backyard where the dogs are. Any suggestions? Help!

The cat should be kept indoors but with baby gates up so the cat can escape to OFF dog limits areas. The dogs should be leashed at all times indoors until you have a better idea of their trustability. The dogs should be taught down/stay using positives and also a OFF cue. If they have not attended a training course, now is the time! Good luck! « less

- I have a 12 week old male shih-tzu. He is very good about staying in his crate when I need him too. I keep a towell in the crate for him to lay in and every morning when I get him out, it smells like pee. I do not let him have free roam of the house. I do not let him walk around on the floor at all because I am afraid he will urinate on the floor. What is the best way to handle this so that I can properly potty train him and also let him have a little freedom in the house?
