  1. hey i have a keloid on my collar bone and it annoys the heck out of me! i cant wear anything but a t-shirt because it always shows and its very red and raised too and sometimes even hurts. I had a scar revision 2 years ago and its slowly getting a little flatter but is still very red! i hav had steroid injections in it to flatten it and it worked a little but then you get veins from the steroids and they gave me the saltwater injections. I just want something that will get rid of my scar completely(if possible) or just help it look normal and blend in! im 15 and i want to live like a normal 15 year old and not have to hide my scar all the time! please let me know if there's anything i can do! thanx! - kari from davenport, iowa

Collar bone keloids are notoriously difficult to treat because of their location. The steroid injections you received are probably the best alternative. Surgery will likely leave a larger scar. The application of silicone gel sheeting to the area may also be helpful.   « less

  3. Is there anything in the works for maximizing the buttocks non-surgically? i'v heard of people getting adatosil 5000 or silikon 1000 injections in their buttocks but i know they are unsafe and/or for the use of retinal detachment to selective patients only. Please annouce to anyone you know about this. Me and millions of women with small butts need a solution. Do you think something can be deemed safe, permanant,& effective within the next 10 years.(I'll be 35 then, still young enough to enjoy my new booty). Thanks Doc! - Looking for Hope from bellmore, NY

There is currently no approved material for off the shelf injection into the buttocks to enhance them. Silicone injections are a terrible ideal and illegal. The best treatment now is fat injections and/or use of specialized implants. I know of no injectables that are in the works for this purpose.   « less

  6. About 18 months ago I had my second face lift. I asked the Dr. to remove some age spots during the procedure. He removed them with a cauterizer. Now I have no skin pigmentation in those areas they are just white spots the size of a quarter. Is there anything I can do, other then getting them tatooed, to hide the spots? Make up does not adhere to the skin so that doesn't work either. Thank you - Gail from San Jose, Ca
Unfortunately, there is no effective, predictable technique to re-color depigmented skin as a result of the thermal injury from the cautery.

  7. I had a rhinoplasty 30 years ago and results were bad (due to several factors). The doctor that did the original tried twice to make it better, but only ended up taking too much cartaledge resulting in a caved in look on one side of my nose near the tip, and the nostril is misshapen as well. I went to another surgeon and he tried building it back up, but my body rejected the implant and it became infected, necessitating removal of the implant. I said "enough" and have lived with it for all these years, but am wondering now if one of the injectable fillers like Restalayne or Perlane might be the answer. - kathy from Pawlelys Island, SC
I have used injectable fillers with some success in correcting some nasal defects. Although the results are not permanent, its worth a try.

Lifestyle face lifts is a marketing ploy used by otolaryngologists. Any facelift needs to be customized to the specific needs of each patient so that the results are effective, long lasting and natural. It does not necessarily require an extensive procedure, but should not be a cookie cutter one size fits all procedure.    « less
