Liposuction is designed to contour areas of the body to achieve better shape and form. It is not used as a weight reduction procedure. While there is no weight limit to perform the procedure, it is clearly not appropriate to be used in someone who is morbidly overweight. If you have areas that need reshaping, then you are likely a good candidate for the surgery.   « less

  5. I had a neck and face lift 4 months ago. My neck had a waddle and no double chin but after surgery I was left with a very lumpy double chin. They went back in two weeks ago and liposuctioned out fat and smoothed my neck. I now have a smaller double chin and the skin looks like grandma skin; soft, spongy and pudgy. My question is how many times do you try to fix something and do you at some point have to accept an ugly plastic surgery caused imperfection? - amie from jax, fl

Residual fullness of the neck following a facelift can be due to a number of factors including persistent swelling, post-op bleeding and hematoma formation, or just inadequate attention to the neck at the time of the original surgery. Additiional liposuction at only four months post-op seems, in my opinion, too soon to reoperate for whatever the intial source of the problem. If your problem persists, then it certainly can be corrected, but it would be a mistake to do anything morer sooner than nine to twelve months from now, in order to allow maximum maturation of the healing to occur and therefore allow the best outcome.   « less

Without seeing you, it is difficult to assess the type of bumps you have and the likelihood that they can be improved with laser treatment. Laser treatment may be able to improve the area somewhat, but do not expect complete erasure. Depending on the amount of excess skin and fat, a lower lid lift may also be an option.   « less

The injections you are speaking of are fat injections. The fat is harvested from liposuction taken from another area of your body. The fat is processed and then reinjected into the buttocks for enhancement. This is a procedure that I do provided there is sufficient fat elsewhere. It generally costs around $5000.   « less

Cindy, This is true. Once the fat has been removed, it is permanently gone. I have seen a few patients who have gained weight after their procedure, but it is distributed in the same proportion that was present after the liposuction.   « less

Elective surgery is often performed on patients with high blood pressure, as long as it is under control with medication. I usually do not require weight reduction prior to a tummy tuck with liposuction, but it would be best to come in for a consultation. Forget insiurance coverage. These are elective cosmetic procedures that no insurance carrier will cover. It is obvioius that these procedures do not cure depression, but they often act to jump start a weight loss program.   « less
