- I am a 40 year old female scheduled to have a tummy tuck and breast lift in March. I am wondering, if I were to need a hystorectomy in the future, would that surgery interfere with the result of the tummy tuck?

- Hi there, and thank you for having a great web-site. Very helpful! I am 45, hiv+, have really low body fat, exercise regularly, and am considering butt augmentation. I've read you prefer to inject body fat, but I have hardly any to draw from. Must it be my own, or can I get some from a relative with same blood type? Silicone?
Also, have had sculptra treatments for lipodystrophy on my face. Over the past 2 years, at least 8 treatments. I still have bumps on my face, more on one side and know the sculptra will not last. A friend was telling me about silicone injections and showed me his face. Compelling to say the least. Rounded and full. I am ready to try something that has better results and lasts longer but would like to do it here in the US.
Thanks for any feedback you may be able to provide. Have a great day, keep up the good work, and stay well,

Liquid sili » moreMadison, The fat used for injection must come from your own body or, if you have one, an identical twin. It will be rejected otherwise. Liquid silicone injections may look great initially, but the silicone is well know to migrate over time and has resulted in devastating problems. I would be very leary of getting injected. Solid or semi solid gel implants, are certainly used for buttocks augmentation, but patients do claim they feeling like sitting on rocks and their placement can be problematic and they are associated with a relatively high risk of infection and the need for removal. « less

Although the goal would be a perfect match, your plastic surgeon should be honest about what realistic expectations can be achieved. In your case, a reduction/lift of the larger side can be possibly be done at the time of an augmentation with an implant and possible shape alteration (if needed) of the smaller side. « less
- Hello, I am a 49 year old woman and about 70 lbs. overweight. I have always had a double chin, although less so of course, even when I was slim. I gained all my weight after delivering two children at age 32 and quitting smoking 16 years ago. Up to that point, I had always been a slim woman. I mention this only because I thought it may matter that I was not always overweight. In any case, my chin is now older and bigger, truly double, and looks just awful. I was wondering: for just this procedure, is it necessary to lose weight first? If it is done, what would happen if I lost weight after the procedure? What would happen if I regained weight after the procedure? A small chin implant would also probably be a help. Thank you

While this procedure is currently being performed by the "off label" use of an ophthalmologic drug, I would discourage its use. Inj » moreWhile this procedure is currently being performed by the "off label" use of an ophthalmologic drug, I would discourage its use. Injected silicone gel in soft tissues is well know to migrate and potentially cause inflammatory reactions. If this occurs, any attempt to remove the product completely is not possible and can result in considerable disfigurement. Use of your own fat (via liposuction and reinjection), if it survives the transplantation, is permanent, natural, completely tolerated, and has none of the above side effects. The primary downside to fat injections is the risk that not all of the injected fat is certain to survive and there is a possibility that additional procedures for reinection may be necessary. This, however, is far better than the disasters that are well documented with silicone injections. « less
- i had butt augmentation in july 2005 and had no post-op complications. however, i exercise regularly on the elliptical cross-trainer. My buttocks often feel hard. would this kind of exercise build scar tissue around the implant and if so, what could this lead to?

- I have had lipo twice, once when I was 21 and again at 33.
I am now 36 and the last procedure still bugs me because
my butt cheeks are uneven. Is this possible to fix, and if so
would you be able to recommend a doctor in Dallas that might specialize in this area.

This problem can be corrected with either additional selective liposuction with or without fat injections to any depressed areas. This problem can be corrected with either additional selective liposuction with or without fat injections to any depressed areas.
- I have a slight asymmetry on the right side of my lip because of some permanent filler, done as a test in a foreign country. The dermatologist fixed it with collagen the first time and I was happy. Now I choose restylane and I had my nasolabial area, and now my lips. My lips are still not even, I can still see the area that was a problem before. The doctor didn't do a good job, he put more on the area that had already the permanent stuff, and also put on the other side of the lip. Since he just did this 3 days ago and I still see the problem I want him to fix it for free. I already spent 1000 on this.
thanks

The addition of a non-permanent filler (Restylane) can help create more symmetry, but you could have swelling on the fuller side side due to inflamatory reaction to both the Restylane and the silicone at only three days. My advise would be to wait a week or two to allow this to settle down, and if still a problem, have it re-evaluated by your doctor. « less
- i had lipo on my neck 2 weeks ago and I am having some concerns (Dr came highly recommended and was expensive)- there is a "pocket" where the fat was removed and it is uncomfortabe to use normal range of motion w/ my head and neck (skin and muscle feels very tight, almost like a muscle was removed.) Will my neck skin fill back out and will I regain the range of motion? Thank you
