If you are getting » moreI don't believe that media centers are made to connect to cable TV. I think that they are to be used with an antenna only. If you are getting a power surge than you probably have a grounding issue and are creating a short to ground. That is what usually causes a (GFCI) Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter to trip. If you don't understand grounding problems you should contact an electrician to look into it. « less

The simplest way is to use an AB switch on the coaxial cable to switch between the two. 2. You could use a modulator and put the satellite box on its own channel that is unused by cable to view the satellite reception on that channel on your TV. 3. If your TV has seperate video inputs you could feed the satellite signal in one input and the cable in on another. I hope this helps. « less
- Arden, I am having a new house built and it will have structured wiring (GE Smart Connection Center is standard). However, I currently have several combination DirecTV/TiVo receivers, including two which are HD. Because it looks like (to me at least) that the structured wiring uses splitters, I am thinking that this will not work with my satellite receivers. Any thoughts or suggestions on how to take advantage of the structured wiring (which I know little about) and still retain my satellite receivers (and my NFL Sunday Ticket)?

The splitter has to be removed and replaced with a multiswitch if you have more than 4 signal connections throughout the house. A multiswitch is the equivalent replacement for a splitter on cable TV. They come in 8 and 16 outputs. Never use a splitter with a satellite TV system. It won't work. « less

- I am located near Saratoga Ave and Lawrence Expwy in San Jose using a CM4228 I get all channels except KNTV 11 at good strength. Adding a CM7777 pre-amp (properly optioned) I boost signals further but still do not receive KNTV 11. For example KTSF 26 at San Bruno Mtn is 90+ strength (Pro-brand 3150 Plus tuner). I understood I should be able to get KNTV 11 with CM4228 even though it is VHF channel. Any ideas?

HDTV signals are touchy and can vary in strength for certain channels in just a five foot radius from the antenna location. You may have located the antenna in a null spot for the signal. The only thing that I can suggest is to move the antenna around the roof from where it is and see if you can find the signal. Good Luck! « less

The channel changing » moreNo, you cannot have individual channel control on the other TV's with the signal coming out of the DirecTV satellite box. The channel changing is done with the receiver. You need to have individual satellite receivers for each set to have individual tuning. Dishnetwork on the other hand has a dual tuner receiver where you can individually control two TV's with one receiver. « less
- Hey Arden, I'm located in Sunnyvale, I would like to connect an OTA to pick up HDTV signals. I currently have a Mitsubishi WD-62757 with basic cable, no cable box. Earlier in the year I was picking up HD channels with my basic service then 1 day they all disappeared.
At this point, I put the anntenna on the roof and I'm getting great analog reception, but my tuner won't recognize any digital channels. Any suggestions?

- I live in Sunnyvale close to Moffett Field. I can receive all the local stations in HD. About once every minute my reception of KNTV-11 HD (VHF channel 12) breaks up. I also hear the interference as static on a radio tuned to an FM station. Is there something coming from the airfield that could be causing the interference?
