  1. I have both DirecTV and an over the air HD antenna. My problem is that my house was wired with one coax cable running from the junction box to each room. Is there any way to modulate (join) both signals on one coax, then demodulate (split) them at each HD receiver? My new home is so well insulated it will be next to impossible to run more lines in the walls. - Bi-Coaxial from San Antonio, Texas

Yes, You can combine both the off air and DirecTV signal on one coax line with a diplexor. This is a signal combiner on the antenna end. At the receiver end you turn it the other way around and it will seperate the signals at the other end. They are relatively inexpensive $5-10 each. You will need two. Pretty neat trick, huh?   « less

You cannot connect your composite output from your DirecTV box to your component input on your TV. This will not work and won't get you a better picure. You need to get an upgraged DirecTV HD DVR receiver. DirecTV no longer has combination TIVO recievers. You will also possibly need to upgrage your DircTV satellite dish. And then you will have to get the HD programming package as well to receive the HD programming. Call your local DirecTV dealer for an upgrade to HDTV programming.   « less

Hi Tony, Your friend is wrong. You can get the local HD channels off of your antenna and feed that signal into the DirecTV box. The DirecTV box will process them as if they came off the satellite and they will show up on the guide as well. It is all very simple and you can change to those channels as if they were being received through DirecTV themselves. DirecTV does not charge extra for local channels any more in your location. The advantange to using an antenna instead of DirecTV local signals is because you can, in most cases receive more local channels from your antenna than you can from DirecTV. This reason DirecTV does not always carry all of the local channels is because they either don't have a contract to do so or they don't have the bandwidth to re-transmit them yet.   « less
  7. I have dish network. We have two recievers which operate 2 seperate tvs each. The reciever in the living room operates the tv in the master bedroom as well as the living room. The reciever in my sons bedroom also operates the tv in the guest bedroom. My question is this: My son got a new computer for Christmas that has Media Center in it. Can I use a regular satellite splitter to split the cable that goes into the back of his tv so that the signal will also go into his computer? This would be AFTER the initial cable from the LNB has gone through the satellite reciever. Thank you in advance for your time. - Michael from McAllen, TX
Yes, you can split the signal line after it comes out of the reciever to more than one TV/VCR/DVR/Media Center.
