Dr. Cheryl Alderson has more than 20 years of veterinary experience. As Lead Veterinarian for HSSV, Dr. Cheryl oversees all veterinary and medical care of the shelter?s animals. Dr. Cheryl?s veterinary team works closely with the Animal Care Management Team to coordinate the shelter?s adoption, spay/neuter, vaccination clinic and educational programs.
Dr. Cheryl holds a D.V.M. from the University of California School of Veterinary Medicine at Davis and a B.S. degree in Animal Science from California State Polytechnic University. Dr. Cheryl is the proud owner of two Australian Cattle dogs and three shelter cats.
Animal behaviorist Maureen Strenfel has more than 16 years of experience in teaching and counseling pet owners, with the past ten years spent as the Animal Behavior Manager for Humane Society Silicon Valley. She has served as a lecturer and as an expert witness for local utility companies, the postal service, disaster committees and police departments.
Professing to be an "agility freak" Maureen and her four dogs spend their spare time chasing each other around an obstacle course.
Dr. Cheryl and Maureen bring more than 36 years of combined experience in the field of animal care to answer your pet related questions. Humane Society Silicon Valley is a nonprofit agency offering adoptions, animal care and educational outreach programs to strengthen the bond between people and pets.
